The followings individuals were appointed by the president to complete the Board:
- Mr Mats Ostblom to represent Independent Hotels,
- Mr Johannes Lenz Hawliczek from Dot.Hotel as WorldWide partner,
- Regional Vice president for Asia and Pacific is Mrs Han Ming President china Hotels Association,
- Mr Oscar Ghezzi President Fehgra as Regional Vice President for South America, and
- Mr Tobias Zbinden from Switzerland and Mr Chawki Madawi from France as member of the Finance Committee
The General Assembly discuss did address some important issues as International Standardization and Emeraude Hotel program.
The Congress for 2011 will be in Katmandu, NEPAL on November 30,2011
The International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IH&RA), founded in Koblenz Germany on 1859 , move to France in 1948 and to Switzerland in 2008, is the only global business organization representing the hospitality worldwide. Its members are the national hotel and restaurant associations throughout the world, and international and national hotel and restaurant chains representing some 50 brands. Officially recognized by the United Nat! ions, IH&RA monitors and lobbies all international agencies on behalf of this industry, estimated to include 300’000 hotels and 8 million restaurants, employing 60 million people and contributing with 950 billion USD annually to the global economy.
Worldwide delegates met in Lausanne today to elect their Board of Directors for 2 years 2011-2013. This Annual General Assembly presided by Dr. Ghassan AIDI, President of IH&RA, who was re-elected with 96% of the vote thanks all delegates for their trust and inform the General Assembly that this will be his last term as he do intend to go back to the Private Business again .
Dr AIDI's achievement was the preparation for the EMERAUDE HOTEL program with the definition of various Criteria for Sustainable Development Worldwide in addition to Mobility of Workers Worldwide, Protection of Children in the Hospitality Sector, etc....
The General Assembly unanimously approved all the work that was done by the actual President and thank him for his integrity and the great job that he did to IH&RA after moving to Switzerland specially they thanked him for their great Job on lobbying and representation and the defense of the interest of the Public sector with the International organization.
In addition to the President re-election, a new Board has been elected for 2 years:
- Mr. Chris Hartley CEO of Global Hotels Alliance was elected as Vice President for Hotels,
- Mr Casimir Platzer from GastroSuisse -Swtzerland was elected Vice President for Restaurants,
- Mr Zakaria Zegoulli from Tunisia was elected Secretary,
- Mr Taimur Bayindir from Turkey was elected as treasurer.
